Ray Charles Concert Poster

(Letterpress Design)

Created as part of a Letterpress assignment, the parameter was to design a concert/gig poster for a musical artist of my choice of any time period with only two colors at my disposal. This piece is also very type-centered and adds to the overall design. Despite the late Ray Charles being a legend in the music industry, he is relatively unknown amongst newer audiences, especially of this generation.

If nothing else, I deliberately implemented the piano keys at the bottom of the poster so that any viewer will know what instrument/genre to expect from said artist given Charles was an exceptional pianist. The yellowish gold color was first applied prior to the black and the bold type choices were chosen specifically to draw attention to the piece.

Due to the limited colors, an illustrated silhouette/outline of Ray Charles rather than an images was used to complement the already type-heavy piece.
